Walmart Marketplace: prepare China stock for the accepted receiver
Separate WFS replenishment from merchant-operator stock, with current labels, carton contents, import responsibilities and destination receipt records.

Plan the receiving model before releasing China stock: WFS replenishment and stock for a merchant-appointed fulfillment operator need different preparation briefs. Guangzhou departure is one handover; accepted destination receipt and customer fulfillment are later stages.
Start with the actual Walmart market and account
Walmart’s US Marketplace qualification page specifies fulfillment through Walmart Fulfillment Services or another B2C US warehouse with returns capability. For a Guangzhou supply chain plan, identify which accepted US operation will handle stock, customer orders and returns. Do not assume a China address can serve as the direct customer dispatch model.
Record the Marketplace country and seller account first. Walmart programs, product acceptance and operating requirements can differ by market. Confirm the actual receiving model and current account instructions before scheduling supplier deliveries or approving a release wave.
Receive and reserve stock before building cartons
Map supplier references and batches to the Guangzhou SKU, merchant item reference and exact Walmart variant. Reconcile physical arrivals against expected quantities. Separate goods awaiting checks or discrepancy decisions from the approved balance.
Reserve quantities for WFS replenishment, the appointed operator and other channels separately. If they compete for one SKU, the merchant needs to approve priorities. An expected supplier delivery is not a received unit, and a quantity allocated to two receivers is not two units of available stock.
Give WFS a current inbound preparation brief
WFS’s routing guide describes requirements for units, shipment packing and delivery. It also says inventory must ship from within the US or clear customs before arriving at the facility. Use the current product-specific guidance and the actual accepted plan rather than relying on an earlier shipment’s instructions.
- Item readiness: accepted item setup, variant identity and approved unit preparation.
- Shipment identity: current inbound plan, receiving destination and released quantities.
- Carton contents: units per carton, carton identifiers and final weights and dimensions.
- Label version: approved unit, receiving and carrier files with their separate purposes.
- Responsibilities: transport, customs clearance, destination delivery and returns arrangements.
WFS’s label guide distinguishes item barcodes from receiving labels and carrier labels. It requires GTIN or UPC item labels and does not accept Amazon FNSKU labels for receiving. If the same supplier batch serves several channels, approve the correct label treatment for each reserved quantity before preparation.
Give the appointed operator its own receiving brief
When the merchant uses another accepted fulfillment operator, request that operator’s current inbound requirements. Confirm carton contents, label formats, destination, delivery appointment responsibilities where applicable, and the record needed to acknowledge receipt.
The Guangzhou operation prepares the approved replenishment; the destination operator handles the agreed customer-order stage. Define how shortages or damaged cartons are reported and who approves a stock correction. Do not copy a WFS packing version into another operator’s shipment without checking its acceptance.
Name the import and returns responsibilities
WFS’s international-seller guide assigns customs clearance, duties and import taxes to the seller, and requires a US returns address. It states that Walmart is not the importer of record. The selected import program can affect the process, so use its actual current instructions and responsible parties.
Keep that destination arrangement explicit in the Guangzhou brief. Supplier coordination, receiving, inspection and packing do not by themselves establish an overseas warehouse or a local returns service. Confirm the accepted arrangements before release.
Reconcile receipt after the China handover
Return the instruction version, carton contents, released quantities, transport handover evidence and remaining Guangzhou balance. Compare later destination receipt with those records. Separate stock still in transit or under investigation from stock confirmed available for customer fulfillment.
Start with our Walmart Marketplace receiving plan, merchant-appointed operator replenishment, approved label corrections and China export handover. Service scope and acceptance remain shipment-specific.
